The wind-tossed waves or wilderness moments of life include times of bountiful blessings (i.e. the wave’s crest/high mountaintops) and burdensome suffering (i.e. the wave’s trough/low valleys) for Loving Laborers in Christ (LLC). Are you riding a high wave or in valleys low? Either one can cause you to become self-absorbed and miss your calling to Care.
When on the wave’s crest or mountaintop (i.e. bountiful blessings), a Loving Laborer in Christ can become self-absorbed and cause crises, chaos, and conflicts in relationships by not showing up as caring. You may be lacking in care and compassion. This can be a catalyst of weariness for those in need of Christ-like attributes in you, and if not careful the tide can turn out of your favor.
On the other hand, when experiencing the wave’s trough or valleys (i.e. burdensome suffering), emotions such as frustration and fear can take the lead. When these emotions take charge, a Loving Laborer in Christ can become self-absorbed and cause crises, chaos, and intense conflict in relationships by growing weary; thus, not reflecting Christ-like attributes like calm, confidence, and courage.
Both of these scenarios impact our witness. Either scenario can damage your connection with God, yourself, your children, close connections, community, co-workers, clients, and customers. The question is…are we faithful to our witness to care for ourselves and others when riding high waves/mountaintops and low waves/valleys as best we can?
